Corporal

The corporal, representing the cloth in which Christ's body was wrapped following the Cruficixion, has both a practical and symbolic purpose, as with all of the objects used as part of the Mass: it is used to contain any crumbs or spilt wine (made sacred at the moment of transubstantiation).

Chalice

The chalice is the cup containing the wine.

Pax

The pax is a disk with a sacred symbol (often the Lamb of God, but here Christ on the Cross). Pax means peace.

Consecration

The Priest says the prayer of consecration over the bread and wine at the altar. The bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ and the drama at the altar re-enacts and represents the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.
